How America was financed is a compelling story and history of how PA was used to pay off an old debt of the British royalty that divided surface rights to William Penn and all mineral rights to the British businessmen and royalty. They then systematically used the backs of the people of NE PA to bring the new found mineral wealth of coal out of the mines and to a prospering and growing America. This was done through the royalties on coal collected by the British and then reinvested in America to build the infrastructure to get their coal to the growing areas of America. This was all done through JP Morgan which made him the most powerful man in America who ultimately saved the US economy by lending America money when they almost went broke at the turn of the century before congress acted to avoid this financial disaster again.
